Deevana Patong Resort & Spa Failed to Prevent Theft From My Safe During My Honeymoon

We are a honeymoon couple, and this has been an unforgettable experience for all the wrong reasons. On the first night, I went to the reception to exchange money, but they refused, so I went out to find an exchange but couldn’t. When I returned, I placed my money in the safe box and went to sleep. The next morning, I opened the safe and discovered that all my cash had been replaced with $1 bills. Shocked, we reported it to the hotel and requested the camera footage. Initially, they were reluctant, but when we insisted and mentioned the police, they allowed us to check. The footage at the room entrance showed nothing unusual, but our ground-floor room, with a balcony facing the pool, raised concerns. Despite their initial denial, the hotel later admitted there was a pool camera. The footage clearly showed a person standing near the trees, watching our room as if waiting for us to leave. We shared the detailed footage with the police, who took fingerprints and DNA samples, but there has been no update on the case. We trusted the hotel, yet our money was stolen from the safe—a complete disgrace. For three of the four days we booked, we were stuck dealing with the police instead of enjoying our honeymoon. We requested a refund from Hotels.com, as the hotel failed to ensure our safety. All staff who watched the footage were shocked, yet they are waiting for the police to confirm the theft. The question remains: who was that person watching our room late at night, and how did they access the safe? This was a terrible experience, and I strongly advise against staying at Deevana Patong Resort & SPA.
