BYD Atto 3 Charging Port Caught Fire After Just 4 Days of Use

On September 30, 2025, I took delivery of my BYD Atto 3 vehicle. After using it for only four days, during my second charging session, the charging socket caught fire at the charging station. When I stopped the charging process and unplugged the cable, smoke started coming out of both the socket and the charging head. I immediately contacted BYD without starting the car and requested a tow truck. The vehicle was then towed to the Bostancı Mengerler dealership.
After six days, I was informed that the issue would be resolved by replacing the damaged part. However, it is unacceptable that such a critical component of a brand-new car (only four days old) could burn out, and the only offered solution is a simple part replacement. When I asked about the car’s depreciation (value loss) due to this incident, I was told that this would only appear in the service system and that no one would know unless it was disclosed during a sale, which is an extremely unsatisfactory response.
We purchased this vehicle by trusting the brand’s name and promises, but this experience has been deeply disappointing. I demand that my issue be resolved through either a full vehicle replacement or a complete refund, as the incident has caused significant safety concerns and financial loss.

Latest development: The vehicle stayed in the service for 3 weeks without being given a replacement car. During these 3 weeks, I was not called or informed even once. When it finally reached the point of a serious argument (in the 2nd week), they said, 'Okay, we will deliver it this week.' Then, at the end of the 2nd week, they said the battery would also be changed and extended the period by another week. After delivery, I experienced the issue of not being able to charge the car twice, and we were sent away with the claim that there was no problem from the service. These guys are among the top 3 car companies with the largest budgets in the world, but it is clear they have reached this point because they are very good at deceiving people. Don't waste your money, BYD is a huge regret.
