BYD Seal U DM-i Stopped Suddenly at 25% Charge
On November 11, 2025, between 12:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., I experienced a very serious issue on the Istanbul European Highway with my BYD Seal U DM-i 2025 model vehicle. Even though the charging unit was at 25%, the car gave no warning or alert of any kind and suddenly came to a complete stop. The vehicle did not switch to gasoline mode, and since it would not move at all, my children, my family, my sister, and I were stranded on the highway for hours. I followed every instruction given by customer service; they told me to charge the vehicle while parked, and I waited like this until 3:00 a.m., but nothing worked. We were exposed to significant safety risks, including the risk of serious accidents and unwanted interactions on the highway. My car was later towed to the Mepa Küçükçekmece Service Center. There, they sent me an unrelated video and claimed “battery water deficiency,” demanding a payment of ₺48,000. However, my vehicle has not even completed one year and is still under warranty. The service insisted the issue was not covered by the warranty, but their explanation makes no sense—if the battery had a problem or lacked water, why didn’t the car run on gasoline, and why was there no warning at all? Moreover, despite my request, they did not provide any official invoice or written offer. I expect my vehicle to be evaluated under warranty, my issue to be resolved, and the ₺48,000 charge to be canceled. Otherwise, I will pursue all legal rights available to me, both materially and morally.
