Booking.com Failed to Inform Me of Visa Requirement Causing Missed Flight

Dear Booking.com/VietJet Aviation Customer Support, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration regarding my recent booking for flight VJ806 from Bangkok to Vietnam, which was booked through Booking.com/VietJet Aviation. Booking Reference: PN6BVS Flight Date: 14/09/2024 Booking Date: 14/09/2024 Passengers: Myself (Dutch passport holder) and my wife Upon attempting to check in online via the VietJet Aviation website, we encountered technical difficulties that made it impossible to complete the check-in process. As per instructions from Booking.com, we proceeded to the airport to check in directly at the airline's counter. However, when we arrived, we were informed by VietJet staff that I could not board the flight due to a visa requirement for Dutch nationals, which I was unaware of. This visa requirement, involving an invitation letter that needs to be arranged days in advance, was never communicated during the booking process on either the Booking.com website or the VietJet Aviation website. Had this information been clearly presented, we would not have booked this flight without securing the necessary visa. This lack of transparency not only caused significant inconvenience and stress but also resulted in financial losses. We had to forfeit our hotel reservation, which was non-refundable, in addition to being unable to board the flight we had paid for. Given the circumstances, I kindly request an immediate refund of the full cost of the tickets, as well as compensation for the hotel booking we lost due to this situation. Additionally, we seek compensation for the stress and disruption this has caused us. Please let me know how we can proceed with this refund and compensation as soon as possible. Should I not receive a satisfactory resolution within 7 business days, I will have no choice but to escalate this matter legally and report the issue to relevant consumer protection agencies. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
