I rented a car through Booking.com, but when I arrived at the pickup point, they tried to give me a vehicle that was covered in scratches and had its engine warning light on. I refused to accept it and called Booking.com's customer support. The agent told me I could cancel the original reservation if I immediately made a new one. I followed instructions and booked a second car on the spot.
However, the system only allowed reservations starting two hours later. I asked if I could still get the car right away, and the agent assured me it wouldn't be a problem. I paid for the new booking, but when I went to pick up the car from Hertz, they told me I had to wait two full hours because my reservation wasn’t active until then. I’ve been waiting since noon with no car and no solution.
I tried to cancel the second reservation, and now they won’t even allow that.
