BlaBlaCar Listings Charge Prices Far Higher Than Bus Tickets
As a long-time user of the BlaBlaCar app, I believe the platform has completely drifted away from its original purpose. While the core idea of the app is to provide affordable and safe travel, I now see that both pricing and user behavior no longer align with that goal. I have repeatedly encountered listings where the prices are many times higher than standard bus fares, in some cases reaching up to six times the cost of a bus ticket. In addition, I have witnessed drivers arbitrarily rejecting reservations based on gender, and I personally experienced having my reservation rejected simply because I am male. This situation is both unfair and disturbing. Despite the fact that I have been experiencing these issues frequently with different listings and drivers since last year, I also see complaints from other users on the platform dating back to 2024 that describe the same problems. This shows that these issues have become long-standing, known, and unresolved structural problems. I request that BlaBlaCar Turkey authorities establish a serious monitoring system for prices and listings, apply sanctions against drivers who demand excessive prices, and introduce clear rules and controls to prevent discriminatory practices such as rejecting reservations based on gender. If possible, I also ask for transparent, clearly defined rules regarding gender-based preferences within the system, and overall, that the platform be restored to a safe, fair, and purpose-driven ride-sharing service.
