BiTaksi Driver Pulled Cash Switch Scam in Maltepe-Pendik Trip
I took a taxi trip with my mother through the BiTaksi app from Maltepe, Istanbul, to Pendik on August 7, 2026, between 18:47 and 19:24. The total fare came out to 810 TRY, and I handed the driver 820 TRY in cash, counting it out directly into his hand. The moment we stepped out of the vehicle and walked toward the trunk, the driver held up the cash in his hand and said, "Sister, there's only 600 here." Out of sheer exhaustion, with my mother beside me and our belongings still in the trunk, I was forced to give him another 200 TRY. Consequently, I ended up paying a total of 1,020 TRY and was clearly scammed.
I contacted BiTaksi regarding this issue. They simply informed me that they called the driver and that he claimed, "I even gave her change back." I stated that his statement was false, that no conversation about giving change ever took place, and I requested access to camera/dashcam records to clarify the incident. However, they dismissed my request stating, "We cannot do that," offering zero assistance and abandoning the process entirely.
I demand compensation for the financial loss suffered in this vehicle requested through BiTaksi, a refund of the overcharged amount, and that necessary investigations and actions be enforced against the driver involved. Furthermore, I expect a transparent process that takes customer statements seriously and reviews camera and system records in such complaints.
