Audi A3 Alternator Failure After Warranty
I own a 2021 Audi A3 1.5 with 58,000 km on it. All regular maintenance has been performed on schedule at Avek Audi Authorized Service in Istanbul. My extended warranty expired about 2–3 months ago.
Today, the battery warning light came on along with an electrical system fault message, followed by “Please contact service.” After driving another 20–25 km, the car completely broke down on the road. When I contacted Avek Audi Service, I was informed that the alternator (charging dynamo) had failed and that the repair would cost approximately $3,800 — a cost they said I would have to cover myself.
After doing some research — and even based on what the service staff told me — it seems that this alternator failure is a known chronic issue in this particular model. Experiencing such a serious and costly malfunction in a low-mileage, regularly serviced Audi, and being told to pay for it out of pocket, is extremely disappointing.
I also contacted Audi Customer Service, but they offered no support, stating only that the repair could be done at my own expense.
This issue clearly arose without any user error and despite my consistent compliance with authorized service maintenance. Therefore, I request that Audi cover the full cost of repair, including free replacement of the alternator, under goodwill or technical recall provisions.
I kindly ask that this matter be resolved urgently and that my vehicle be repaired free of charge as a reflection of Audi’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
