Skoda Octavia E-Tec Alternator Failure
As the owner of a 2022 Skoda Octavia e-tec, I was stranded due to an alternator failure at just 35,000 kilometers, and my vehicle was towed to the authorized service center where the inspection resulted in a cost of ₺168,000 for alternator replacement; experiencing such a failure at such low mileage was deeply disappointing, especially as someone who is satisfied with the vehicle and maintains it regularly. At the authorized service center, I was informed that this is considered a chronic problem, yet I find it unfair to be charged such a high fee for an issue that appears to be a manufacturing defect rather than user error. Although the vehicle’s warranty has expired, I believe Skoda should support its customers in this matter given the low mileage and the claim of a chronic issue, which I see is also a subject of similar discussions and lawsuits both in Turkey and abroad, particularly in Germany. If a reasonable and fair solution is not offered, I will seriously consider selling the vehicle after retrieving it from service and taking legal action against Skoda. Therefore, I request that the repair or replacement of the alternator failure be covered free of charge or at least with a significant discount on parts and labor, and that my grievance be resolved as soon as possible.
They increased my expense to 200,000 TL and then resolved it by reducing it to 58,000 TL.
