Locked Out of My Amazon Web Services Account Due to MFA and Verification Issues
I have had an active Amazon Web Services (AWS) account for over a year. About a week ago, when I tried logging in, the system requested a multi-factor authentication (MFA) code. I realized that the phone number linked to the account was not mine, so I couldn’t proceed. Assuming Amazon might have set up MFA by default, I followed the steps to reset it.
I contacted AWS support and answered several verification questions. However, they eventually requested a "Notarized Identity Verification Form and Affidavit." When I consulted a notary, they informed me such a document doesn't exist and advised obtaining an official record from the government’s e-system. After submitting this official document to AWS, they rejected it, claiming they couldn’t verify my identity with it.
It’s frustrating that AWS refuses to accept my government-issued document while my account remains inaccessible. To make matters worse, my account continues to accrue charges. I demand AWS provide a simpler, smarter method to verify my identity or close the account to stop further billing. This situation must be resolved promptly.
