Problems with Airbnb Refunds, Money Sent, and Missing
On October 9, 2023, I made a booking through Airbnb's website for a city I planned to visit. After entering all the information, I realized the booking was outside the city. I canceled it on the same day, even within the same hour.
Per Airbnb's policy, half of the paid amount is refunded once the booking is confirmed by the host. That wasn't an issue, considering the error was mine. I canceled the booking, stating the reason, and was informed that the refund would be transferred to my account by October 24, 2023. They provided an ARN number, although my bank claimed not to operate with such a number.
Checking Airbnb's website today, on October 26, 2023, it stated that the refund had been sent. However, upon contacting my bank, they informed me that no money had been received.
After reaching out to Airbnb customer service, they assured me they would look into it. However, more than 24 hours have passed, and I am yet to receive any feedback. The resolution process is quite frustrating. It's not exactly a major issue, but the difficulties arising from the sole refund are proving to be too much for people to handle.
