I’m an Airbnb Host and Guests Abuse the Refund Policy While I’m Left With the Damage
As a host on Airbnb, I’ve had multiple experiences where guests stay at my property, cause damage, leave a mess, and then report fake complaints to get a full refund. Airbnb sides with them almost instantly, without properly investigating, and takes the money directly from my payout.
Meanwhile, I’m left covering the cost of repairs, cleaning, and lost income—and there’s no real accountability for dishonest guests. Airbnb continues to take high commissions from hosts like me, yet offers no protection when we’re the ones being exploited.
This system is deeply unfair. Hosts invest in their properties and trust the platform, but we’re treated as disposable when disputes arise. Guests know they can abuse the policy and face zero consequences.
