Air Serbia Strands Passenger in Belgrade After Delayed Paris Connection

I purchased a Paris–Belgrade–Sofia flight ticket with Air Serbia for July 28, 2026. While en route to Sofia, I missed my Belgrade connection due to a delay on the flight departing from Paris. The Paris–Belgrade plane landed approximately 1 hour late, and when I arrived at the gate for the Sofia flight, I was told the gate was closed and that I could no longer board.

The agent at the gate directed me to the Air Serbia ticketing/help desk. The staff member there informed me that I could not fly to Sofia again due to my visa, but suggested I could fly from Belgrade to Istanbul if I wanted to. However, this option was not offered as compensation, and they refused to rebook my existing ticket to an Istanbul flight. With an indifferent and rude attitude, they stated, "We cannot do anything, you need to buy a new ticket."

Although the delay of the flight departing from Paris was entirely the airline's responsibility, the fact that I missed my connecting flight to Sofia and suffered as a result was completely ignored. No resolution regarding a free change, rerouting, or refund was provided; I was simply told to buy a new ticket. Consequently, I was forced to wait in Belgrade from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM and ultimately had to pay out-of-pocket for another ticket to return to Istanbul.

I paid an additional ticket fee for the Belgrade–Istanbul flight. Throughout this process, I experienced significant financial losses due to both the cost of my initial ticket and the price of the new ticket, my entire vacation plan was ruined, and I suffered severe emotional hardship.
