Zara Discriminates Against Turkish Citizens in Tax-Free Refunds
Last January 6, 2024, I made a purchase of ₺2295 at Zara's Marmara Park branch and asked for a Tax-Free refund. At first, they seemed to be on board, but as soon as they caught sight of my Turkish passport, they suddenly backed out. Even though I had previously received Tax-Free refunds in Turkey with my Turkish passport, Zara was adamant about enforcing this policy. If someone is a Turkish citizen or not, living abroad with a residence permit and not paying taxes in Turkey, they are eligible for Tax-Free shopping. When a company decides to provide Tax-Free services, it is important for them to ensure that they do not engage in any form of discrimination based on nationality. I expect Zara to address this mistake promptly, acknowledging it as a recurring problem, and to furnish me with the necessary document. If not, I kindly ask them to provide the legal justification for this decision, as I am ready to assert my legal rights in accordance with the relevant laws. Best regards.
