Yapi Kredi Bank Imposes Annual Credit Card Fee
On September 13, 2023, my Yapi Kredi World Card, ending in 1815, was charged a membership fee of 404.50 TL. In accordance with the following legal provisions, I request the cancellation and refund of this fee without any further conditions: "Consumer Law, May 28, 2014, Article 31 Paragraph 3: Card-issuing institutions must offer consumers a type of credit card that does not charge an annual membership fee or any other similar fee under any name." "According to Article 6 of Law No. 4822 amending Law No. 4077 on the Protection of Consumers' Rights, your bank's membership fee is unjust because it is not in exchange for any service, and because the relevant clause in the contract was prepared in advance, especially since it is included in the standard contract, its content cannot be influenced or negotiated; thus, it is an unfair term." "In accordance with the final decision of the 13th Civil Chamber in the cases numbered 2011/4736 and 2011/11579, there is also a definitive judgment that the annual card fee should be canceled, and there will be a refund of retroactively charged card fees, as per the 125th Article of the Turkish Code of Obligations and the Supreme Court's decision numbered 2010/1-93-88." Based on the foregoing, I request that the 356 TL membership fee reflected on my account statement be canceled. Otherwise, I intend to file complaints with appropriate authorities, such as the Banks Association and the Consumer Arbitration Committee. I request immediate communication to resolve this issue.
