I Paid ₺198 for an Uber Ride Quoted at ₺160—Why Are Estimates So Inaccurate?
I use Uber frequently, and I’m growing increasingly frustrated with the app’s inaccurate fare estimates. Recently, I requested a ride that was shown to cost between ₺140–₺160. However, I was charged ₺198 at the end of the trip. This isn’t the first time this has happened. Previously, when I reported a similar issue, Uber acknowledged it was a system error and refunded me. But now, instead of resolving the situation, customer support implies that I’m abusing the system by reporting these overcharges too often.
Let me be clear—I’m not trying to exploit the app. I’m simply asking for transparency and fairness. If the estimated fare is just a placeholder, and the actual charge can be ₺30–₺40 more, then what’s the point of displaying it at all? I’d understand a small variation—₺5, maybe ₺10—but not ₺40.
Uber needs to stop brushing off these concerns and start honoring its estimated fares or at least offer clear explanations. I expect a full refund of the difference and immediate clarification on how fare calculations are handled. I rely on this service daily, but if this continues, I’ll be forced to look elsewhere.
