Damaged Luggage Compensation Issue with Turkish Airlines - Seeking Full Reimbursement
On September 23, 2024, my luggage was damaged on a Turkish Airlines flight from Nice to Izmir via Istanbul. Upon arrival, I filed a damage report at the airport. Turkish Airlines’ customer service later requested a report from Samsonite, which confirmed that the replacement cost for my broken luggage is ₺10,690. However, Turkish Airlines only offered to cover ₺5,345, leaving me to pay nearly ₺5,000 out of pocket for a new bag due to their mishandling.
Despite this being entirely Turkish Airlines’ fault, they are asking for my original purchase receipt to justify paying the full replacement cost. As expected, I no longer have the receipt for a well-used item, especially since it was purchased abroad. It’s unfair that I am being penalized and forced to cover part of the expense for their mistake. I am requesting that Turkish Airlines compensates me according to the Samsonite report’s evaluation. My case details are as follows: Case ID: 2024209272 // DDP ADBTK52341.
