Trivago Redirected Me to Agoda and My Booking Went Wrong
I was reviewing options to book a stay at the Diamond of Bodrum hotel through Trivago, which redirected me to Agoda, stating it offered the best price. While I was still checking installment options, I suddenly received an email confirming my reservation—even though I had never received any 3D Secure verification code during the process. When we contacted the hotel, we were told our reservation was only for room and breakfast, which caused further frustration. I want to cancel the reservation, but I haven’t been able to reach any real customer support—only a chatbot. Agoda emailed me claiming they contacted the hotel, but the hotel refused to approve the cancellation. However, when I spoke directly with the hotel, they said they never received such an email and that if they did, they would approve a full refund. Despite having the hotel’s approval, I couldn’t speak with anyone at Agoda and saw that they were not helpful with the refund process. While the hotel agreed, the booking platform failed to process the refund or assist with the cancellation, leaving me deeply disappointed. I’m especially frustrated that Trivago directed me to such an unreliable site, despite the many trustworthy booking platforms out there. I regret using Trivago and don’t think I’ll use it again. My reservation number is 1634090218.
