Trivago Hotel Booking Redirected to Foreign Site

Trivago redirected us to a foreign site for our hotel reservation, but when I called the hotel, they informed me that we can’t check in without a passport. We had no prior knowledge of this, and the payment has already been charged to my credit card. I’m requesting a refund, but I can’t reach anyone for assistance. Can you please respond and help resolve this issue?
