I Booked a Safranbolu Trip via Trivago but Couldn't Get My Refund After a Death
I booked a vacation in Safranbolu through Trivago, including cancellation insurance, thinking I was protected in case of emergencies. Unfortunately, my mother-in-law passed away, and we were unable to take the trip. I immediately contacted Trivago to cancel and request a refund.
That’s when the nightmare began. Trivago provided no direct support—no one from their team would take responsibility. I was instead bounced between multiple third-party companies, one for the cancellation process and another based abroad for the refund. I sent dozens of emails, shared death documentation, and followed every instruction, but I still haven’t received my money back.
It is unacceptable for a company like Trivago to advertise as a booking platform while completely distancing itself from customer support and accountability. If you're not going to stand behind the service, why offer insurance at all?
