Tesco Supermarket Took My Gift Card and Refused to Help When It Showed No Balance

Recently, I had a bad experience at Tesco, and I'm distraught with how they treated me. I bought a £20 gift card as a birthday present for my friend. The next day, when he tried to use it, no money was left on it. When I returned to the shop to try fixing the problem, the cashier was rude and didn't want to look at the transaction records. Even though I showed them the ticket, they told me they couldn't help me. Because of a technical mistake, I lost £20 and got terrible customer service, which made me feel really angry. I thought a well-known name like Tesco would do better.
