Starbucks Hot Coffee Leaked Through Bag Twice Due to Poor Lid Sealing
I’ve had a frustrating experience with Starbucks hot coffee orders—not once, but twice. I ordered hot coffee to-go on two separate occasions, and both times the cups were poorly sealed by the staff, causing the coffee to leak into the paper bag.
By the time I picked the bag up from my car seat, the bottom was already soaked and completely gave out, spilling both cups of coffee all over the car. Starbucks claims to use specially designed lids to prevent spills, but clearly those aren’t working as intended when staff don’t apply them correctly.
Because I was on my way to work both times, I didn’t have time to return and complain. But now I’ve paid for four cups of coffee I never even got to drink, and my car upholstery is stained from the spills.
Starbucks needs to retrain staff on how to properly seal hot drink lids and consider using more durable takeout bags that won’t dissolve with minor leaks. I expect the company to take accountability and offer compensation in ₺ for the ruined drinks and inconvenience. Customers shouldn’t have to worry about their coffee ending up on the floor instead of in their hands.
