To remove the strong, unpleasant odor from your Stanley thermos after leaving coffee in it for too long, you can try the following methods:
Vinegar and Baking Soda:
• Pour about 4 ounces of white distilled vinegar into the thermos.
• Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda and mix the solution until it starts to fizz.
• Fill the thermos to the top with hot water and let it stand for about 10 minutes.
• Use a small bottle cleaning brush to scrub the inside of the thermos.
• Rinse the thermos thoroughly with hot water to remove any vinegar or baking soda residue.
Dishwasher Powder:
• Put 1 tablespoon of dishwasher powder into your thermos.
• Pour hot water into the thermos and put the lid back on. Shake the thermos well.
• Fill the thermos to the top with warm water and let it soak for a couple of hours, or overnight if possible, with the lid off.
• Scrub the inside of the thermos with a small brush and rinse it out several times until no dishwasher powder remains.
Salt and Ice:
• Fill the thermos a quarter of the way with ice cubes.
• Add 2 or 3 tablespoons of salt to the thermos.
• Secure the lid and shake the thermos vigorously to exfoliate the inside and remove the odor.
• Rinse the thermos thoroughly and let it air dry.
