On December 19, 2023, I purchased a Peugeot 208 from Nev Oto Tarabya Spoticar for ₺598,000. However, the buying process was filled with unexpected issues that were never disclosed to me beforehand.
Before conducting an independent inspection, I was not informed that the car had structural repairs on its pillars. The report later revealed repairs on both the front and middle pillars, as well as paintwork on one of the doors. When I brought this up with the dealership, they dismissed it, saying the repairs were due to the side skirt (marşpiyel) replacement, which they did not consider important enough to disclose.
I ended up negotiating the price to ₺571,000 and proceeded with the purchase, as I urgently needed a vehicle and was led to believe that this was not a major issue. I also lacked expert advice at the time. The sales representatives assured me that similar cars were listed for ₺640,000 and that I would be able to resell it for a profit if needed.
However, 4-5 months later, I approached the same dealership for a trade-in offer, and they quoted me only ₺490,000. When I tried to sell it privately, the highest offer I received was ₺430,000. This means I suffered a significant financial loss, amounting to 8.2 months of minimum wage in today’s terms.
Upon reviewing Nev Oto Spoticar listings, I found a disclaimer stating:
"Note: Plastic parts and side skirts are not considered in the vehicle's inspection."
This essentially hides important structural issues, making their certification unreliable. To make matters worse, another Spoticar dealership refused to even make an offer on my vehicle.
I am not writing this to demand anything—I only want to warn others. If you are considering buying from Nev Oto Spoticar, think twice. My loss today might serve as a warning to others. I firmly believe that one day, both Nev Oto and the individuals involved in this sale will be held accountable for their actions.
