Samsung Z Fold6 Screen Bulging at Fold and Warranty Denied

Samsung Z Fold6 Screen Bulging at Fold and Warranty Denied
4

I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 on 2 November 2024. After approximately three weeks of use, I noticed a serious defect in the inner display. The screen began to bulge along the folding crease, making it appear as though the display had split down the middle. The touchscreen has also become completely unresponsive in the affected area.

Experiencing such a serious problem at the most critical point of a foldable smartphone has caused me considerable inconvenience and disappointment, particularly given the relatively short period of use. Since the device is still under warranty, I sent it to an authorised Samsung service center for inspection and repair.

However, following their assessment, I was informed that the damage was classified as user-related and therefore not covered by the warranty. I was subsequently asked to pay approximately $558 for the repair. I strongly disagree with this assessment, as the device has never been dropped, physically damaged, or exposed to liquids. There has been no misuse or accidental damage that could justify classifying this defect as user negligence.

I believe that the screen bulging and touchscreen malfunction may be related to a defect in the foldable display technology or its construction. It is unreasonable to expect customers to pay such a substantial repair fee for a defect that occurs during normal use and without any external damage.

I therefore request that Samsung reconsider its assessment, recognise this issue as a potential product or manufacturing defect, and provide a free repair under the existing warranty. If a proper repair is not possible, I request that the device be replaced with a new one.

I expect Samsung to take responsibility for this issue, honour its warranty obligations, and resolve my complaint as soon as possible without imposing any additional costs on me.
