Ryobi RAP1500G Thickness Planer Overheating

I just bought the Ryobi RAP1500G Professional Portable Thickness Planer, a powerful 1500W 318mm machine. But, right when it was used for the first time, after only 15 minutes, the motor started shooting out sparks and getting way too hot. Worried about my safety, I promptly shut it down and brought it to the service center. Even after contacting both the seller and the main distributor, they stubbornly refused to admit that the product I purchased had defects and declined to provide a replacement. It's really annoying to have a product I couldn't even use replaced.
