Renault Captur Telematics Failure After Minimal Use

I purchased a 2022 Renault Captur 1.3 TCe as a used vehicle in September 2022. After using the car for a very short time, I had to leave the country for work, and the vehicle remained parked in a closed garage for approximately two years. After returning to Turkey and starting to use the car again, I noticed that the “SOS warning” light was illuminated on the dashboard, and in December 2025, I took the vehicle to Cihan Oto Authorized Service in Ankara.
Following the inspection at the authorized service center, I was informed that the telematics control unit had failed, that the warranty had expired approximately six months earlier, and therefore they could not provide assistance. I was also told that replacing this part would cost approximately $920 USD. After this, I contacted both Cihan Oto and Renault Mais, explained that my 3-year-old vehicle had spent two of those years parked in a closed garage, that it had been actively used for only one year, and that it currently had 30,000 km on it. I requested that this failure be covered by Renault as a goodwill repair. However, my request was rejected on the grounds that the previous owner had not serviced the vehicle at an authorized service center.
Shortly after taking the vehicle to the service center, this time the “check airbag” warning also appeared. I do not find it acceptable for a vehicle that has been actively used for only one year and has 30,000 km to develop electronic failures directly related to safety. Despite this, Renault’s refusal to show any goodwill, even though the warranty expired only a short time ago, has caused me serious disappointment.
Taking into account the age of the vehicle, its mileage, and its actual usage period, I am requesting that these failures be covered under a goodwill warranty. I would also like to state that I will share this situation separately with Renault SAS France, where I previously worked.
