Preply Permanently Suspended My Teacher Account
I have been teaching Turkish on Preply for approximately seven years, and for a long time I was among the top 10% of teachers on the platform. However, my account was permanently closed because I shared my email address with a student before a trial lesson.
My intention in sharing my email address was not to take the student off Preply. I simply wanted to see the book the student was using in advance so that I could prepare better for the lesson. I acknowledge that sharing my email address was against Preply's rules, and I understand that I made a mistake.
However, I believe the punishment I received is extremely severe and disproportionate. I made a similar mistake once before, during the early years of my teaching career. Although my account was suspended at that time, the situation was reviewed and my account was eventually restored. Therefore, being permanently banned this time for a similar type of mistake has caused me significant hardship.
Since my account was closed, I have completely lost contact with the students I have been teaching for years. I cannot reach my students, view their messages, or manage my ongoing lessons. I do not believe it is fair for seven years of my work, my teaching history, and my successful performance on the platform to be completely disregarded because of a single mistake.
I acknowledge my mistake and commit to following all of Preply's rules fully going forward. I am requesting that my account and teaching history be reviewed again and that the permanent ban be lifted so that my teacher account can be restored. At the very least, I would like to be given an opportunity to explain my situation in detail through a conversation or review before a final decision is made.
Throughout this process, I kindly ask Preply to take into consideration the seven years of work I have invested in the platform and the relationships I have built with my students.
