If PIA VPN connects but you have no internet access and want to restore browsing;
Check if Kill Switch is blocking traffic;
• Open PIA → Settings
• Disable “Kill Switch” temporarily
• Disconnect and reconnect
• Test browsing
Switch VPN protocol;
• Settings → Protocol
• Try:
– WireGuard
– OpenVPN UDP
– OpenVPN TCP
• Reconnect after each change
Change DNS settings;
• In PIA → Enable “Use PIA DNS”
• Or manually set DNS to:
– 1.1.1.1
– 8.8.8.8
• Restart browser
Change server location;
• Select a different country
• Try a nearby server first
• Avoid streaming-optimized servers for testing
Flush network settings (Windows);
• Open Command Prompt (Admin)
• Run:
– ipconfig /flushdns
– netsh winsock reset
• Restart PC
Check firewall/antivirus;
• Temporarily disable
• Add PIA as exception
Restart router;
• Power off 2–3 minutes
• Reconnect VPN after reboot
If issue continues;
• Reinstall PIA
• Test on another device
• Contact PIA support with OS, protocol, and server details
If support does not reply, you might want to consider posting a complaint on Xolvie in order to bring attention to the issue and try to find a solution.
