Secondhand Peugeot 408 Engine Failure, Abnormal Fuel Consumption
I purchased my vehicle second-hand when it had only 9,000 kilometers on it. Shortly after, I began experiencing engine failures and noticed abnormal fuel consumption. Initially, I visited the nearest service center and they reset the vehicle, assuring me there was no serious issue. However, the problem persisted just 40 kilometers later. The following day, I had to drive to Çorlu Çetaş, where they diagnosed the issue as accumulated soot in the spark plugs, possibly due to poor-quality fuel. They cleaned the soot and reset the software, after which the vehicle worked fine for about a month in the city. During a holiday trip with my family, the vehicle again malfunctioned, disabling all driving assistance features and experiencing engine failures, traction loss, and erratic fuel consumption. I barely made it to Surtaş in Aydın, where they identified several minor malfunctions which they reset and assured me the vehicle was fine to continue. Upon returning from holiday, the issues recurred, prompting another visit to Surtaş. This time, they diagnosed a faulty first injector but could only reset it temporarily due to time constraints. The vehicle broke down again after about 200 kilometers on the highway, leaving me stranded until I managed to restart it. Frustrated by these recurring problems, I attempted to schedule routine maintenance and address the malfunctions at Çorlu Çetaş, but could only secure an appointment a month later, on July 30th. Given the lack of permanent solutions I've seen reported on social media, I have doubts about finding a lasting fix. I'll update with further developments after my upcoming service appointment.

I experienced the same problems again on Sunday. I barely managed to leave my car at the Çorlu Çetaş service today. I explained all the issues in great detail directly to the service maintenance manager. They said they would examine it. I am waiting.
Yesterday at noon, we left the vehicle at the Çetaş Çorlu service center due to an engine malfunction. They checked the vehicle. They said that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle, that the injectors had accumulated soot due to poor quality fuel, that they had cleaned the soot, and that I could pick up the vehicle. They also warned me to get fuel from a quality place. 😅 It seems that the vehicle doesn't perform well without a soot cleaning approximately every 1,000 km. I said this is not a solution, there is another issue with the vehicle. Many people have this problem. They said there is nothing we can do. We solve whatever the computer says, and right now the vehicle is not showing any errors/malfunctions. I will have to pick up the vehicle. I am 100% sure that it will leave me stranded again in 3-5 days.
As of July 20th, I went to the service center again due to the ongoing issue. Thankfully, they finally told me that the problem was with the 1st injector. I placed an order. I am waiting.
The date above will be August 20.
The vehicle's injectors have been replaced. It's been more than 2 months. For now, there doesn't seem to be any problem. However, since the issue usually arises on long trips, I will update my comment again after my first long-distance experience.
I haven't experienced any issues since the injectors were replaced in August.
