I purchased a service from the website Personality.co that was presented only as a “personality test trial” and advertised as costing approximately $2 USD. However, during the purchase process, it was not clearly or explicitly stated that after this trial, the service would automatically convert into a recurring subscription costing approximately $32 USD. I did not encounter any clear notice, information, or confirmation step regarding this charge.
Later, I noticed that my credit card was charged approximately $32 USD on December 18, 2025. I would like to emphasize that I did not give explicit consent for this charge and that I only intended to purchase the trial service. Under consumer protection laws and distance sales regulations, charging consumers for fees that were not clearly disclosed or explicitly approved is unlawful.
As a result, I contacted the company via email and requested a refund of the approximately $32 USD charged without my consent, the cancellation of my subscription, and written confirmation of the refund process. In their response, they stated that a refund would be issued. However, I believe that in such payment models, users must be informed in a much more transparent and clear manner, otherwise many consumers may be unfairly affected.
I expect Personality.co to establish a system that clearly warns users from the very beginning about pricing and automatic charges in trial and subscription models, leaving no room for misleading practices, and to take the necessary measures to prevent similar consumer harm. I would also like to remind other users to be extremely careful with refund and subscription processes.
