PDF Guru Trial Turns Into Monthly Charges Without Consent
My complaint is about PDF Guru and the way they handle their so‑called “trial” or “one-time access” offers, which are presented at a very low price but actually hide an expensive recurring subscription. I chose what was presented as a 7‑day trial or one‑time access on 30 September 2025, expecting to pay only the clearly shown small amount for short-term use. Without my clear knowledge or consent to a long-term subscription, PDF Guru charged me not only for the trial/one-time use but then continued to bill me $49 per month. I was charged $49 on 7 October, 6 November, and 11 December 2025, through PayPal, and in total I paid $149.98. I only noticed after three months that these recurring payments were being taken, as there was no clear warning email before the high charges and the subscription information was hidden in very small grey text. When I contacted PDF Guru’s customer service, they replied that, after reviewing my request, they would not issue a refund, referring me to their Money-Back Policy on the website. They said they had canceled my subscription and that I would not be charged again, but they refused to return the money that was already taken. I did not knowingly agree to a recurring subscription of around $49 per month, and I was not properly informed about these charges in a clear and transparent way. I am currently disputing these unauthorized charges via PayPal. I request a full refund of $147 for the three monthly charges that were taken without my informed consent and that I was not aware of, and I expect PDF Guru to present their pricing and subscription terms in a much clearer and more prominent way so that other users do not fall into the same trap.
