My Nike Dunk Low Retro Shoes Smell Awful After Minimal Use
Hello. On March 15, 2025, during a holiday, we bought a pair of Nike Dunk Low Retro men’s sneakers from the Piazza Maltepe Nike store. Ever since my son started wearing them, they’ve developed an absolutely unbearable odor—something so strong and strange, it's honestly hard to describe. It’s gotten to the point where I’ve joked about something rotting inside the shoe because the smell is that extreme.
I washed the shoes by hand in cold water after just one month of use, hoping it would help—but nothing changed. And here’s the strangest part: my son owns three other pairs of Nike shoes, including one he’s worn for over a year, and none of them have ever smelled like this. Clearly, this is not about hygiene or use—this is about something being seriously wrong with this specific pair.
My son visited the store and was told that no exchange or return would be accepted. How is that reasonable? Am I just supposed to throw away ₺5000+ worth of sneakers after barely two months of wear?
Yes, I am updating. I took the shoes to the Piazza Barçın store and they sent them for inspection, but after the inspection, I was told that there would be no refund or exchange. What I don’t understand is, do Nike shoes smell? And so much that it fills the whole house, while other shoes don’t smell. Is it normal for only these shoes to have this issue? If it’s normal, then I won’t buy Nike again. But unfortunately, my son is a teenager and won’t give up on the Nike trend, so it’s my money that’s wasted. Please inspect the shoes thoroughly. I already told the store that I washed the shoes by hand because they smelled so much and put baking soda inside. Is this the reason for not exchanging them? I am really upset about the refusal to exchange. A world-renowned brand shouldn’t be like this. We are registered at Sneaks Up, and we have bought many Nike shoes before—this is on record. No matter what they say, I don’t think these shoes are original at all.
