Mytrip Pocketing Transavia €134 Airport Tax Refund After Forcing Booking Cancellation
I requested to change the date of my Transavia flight purchased through Mytrip. My intention was not to cancel the ticket, but merely to modify my flight date. However, Mytrip provided no solutions regarding the ticket change and ultimately forced me toward a cancellation process instead.
My flight was Transavia flight TO3424 from Lyon to Istanbul Airport, with a departure date of August 16, 2026, at 06:00. My booking reference is J753YB. Following the cancellation, when I contacted Transavia directly, they explicitly confirmed that the airport tax refund of €133.62 was processed on August 15, 2026, and transferred back to my original payment method through the travel agency.
Despite this, rather than issuing this refund to me in full, Mytrip claims there is a service/processing fee of approximately $53 per person, leaving them to refund me a mere $56. They offer no clear or satisfactory explanation as to why this €133.62 tax—which the airline has already refunded and confirmed as transferred to Mytrip—is not being passed along to the customer in full.
My expectation from Mytrip is straightforward and clear. First, I demand that the €133.62 refund, confirmed to have been transferred by Transavia, be paid to me without any unjust or disproportionate deductions. If there is a legitimate, contractually backed deduction, I require them to explicitly state in writing which contract clause justifies this fee and what concrete service was rendered in exchange.
Furthermore, I expect a detailed explanation from Mytrip as to why my initial date-change request was denied, why no reasonable flight-change options were offered, and why I was funneled toward cancellation as my only option. This entire process has caused me significant financial loss and a waste of time, and I demand full resolution of my hardship.
