Main reasons for losing progress
You logged into the wrong account — for example, via Google or Apple, which may have created a new profile with no learning history.
A synchronization failure between your device and Memrise servers (often after using offline mode).
The app was updated or reinstalled without signing back into the same account.
A server-side error or temporary technical maintenance.
How to check which account you’re using
Go to Profile → Settings → Account and check the email address. If it’s different from the one you originally registered with, you’re logged into a different account. Log out and sign in again using the correct email.
If progress disappeared after offline learning
Sometimes data doesn’t sync immediately. Connect to a stable internet connection, open the app, and wait a few minutes — your statistics should update.
If the data still isn’t restored
Contact Memrise support at [email protected] and include:
the email address linked to your account,
the course name,
the date when you last saw the correct progress,
your device type and app version.
Support may be able to restore your progress manually if the data is still stored on their servers.
Tips for the future
Always make sure you’re logged into the same account on all devices.
Don’t reinstall the app while actively studying offline — wait until your progress is fully synced.
