McAfee Subscription Renewed Without My Knowledge
I am a Türk Telekom subscriber, and as part of the Sil Süpür campaign, I regularly receive SMS messages containing a promotional code for “3 months of free McAfee Security.” However, when I enter the gift code into the system to activate it, I receive the error message, “The same mobile phone number can be associated with a maximum of 3 E-PINs,” and the system does not allow me to use my gift code.
The most serious part of this issue is that while the system rejects my gift code because the limit has supposedly been reached, it has apparently left the “automatic renewal” feature of my previous McAfee subscription enabled in the background and has been charging me without my knowledge or authorization for the past three months. Despite being offered a free 3-month gift, I was charged $0.52 in June, $0.67 in July, and $0.93 in August, for a total of approximately $2, which was added to my bills without my knowledge or approval.
Promising me “3 months free” through SMS, preventing me from using the promotional code by imposing a system limit, and simultaneously continuing to charge me in the background is misleading and unacceptable. I have screenshots of the promotional SMS messages, the error message displayed by the system, and the charges appearing on my bills as evidence.
I demand that this subscription, which was renewed as a paid service without my knowledge, be canceled immediately and that all amounts charged to my bills be fully refunded. I also request an explanation as to why the free promotional code could not be used while automatic paid renewal remained active.
