McAfee Sent Me a Fake-Looking $257.99 Subscription Confirmation
On August 13, 2026, at 8:53 PM, I received an email at my Hotmail address stating, “Your order has been received and the confirmation process was successful,” even though I have never had any membership or subscription with McAfee. The email mentioned a $257.99 subscription that appeared to have been created without my knowledge.
At this time, I do not see any payment charged to my bank accounts, and I have not contacted anyone using the phone number or links provided in the email. I believe both users and the relevant brands need to be more careful about emails that appear to be fraudulent or misleading. Receiving what appeared to be a subscription confirmation email using my name and email address has caused me serious concern.
I am submitting this complaint both to raise awareness and to help prevent potential harm to other users. I would like to make it clear that if any unauthorized charge is made to my bank account or cards, I will pursue all available legal remedies to protect my rights. I request that McAfee provide an explanation regarding the source of this email and what it means from a security standpoint, and that the necessary investigation and security measures be taken to prevent my personal information from being used without my authorization.
