I Opened 1 Month Kuveyt Türk Account but They Made It 1 Year
I opened a term deposit account at a bank called Kuveyt Türk, selecting a 1-month maturity, but they secretly changed it to a 1-year term, preventing me from accessing my own money. I was clearly misled—what I intentionally set for 1 month was locked for an entire year. Now they’re telling me I have to pay a penalty of ₺280,000 and an additional ₺22,000 for the account just to access my funds. Customer service has been no help, and I feel completely victimized. I can’t withdraw my own money without being penalized. Who will defend our rights? Why should I suffer humiliation over my own money? Despite choosing a 1-month term, they imposed a penalty on the already minimal interest I earned—barely keeping up with inflation. I am filing a complaint against everyone responsible for this injustice. I hope the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, the Central Bank of Türkiye and Consumer Rights hear my voice.
