Hypic Did Not Clearly Disclose a $5 VAT Deduction
On July 6 at 12:52 AM, a total of $34 was processed through my Hypic account, but I received only $27. This left a difference of about $6. When I contacted support, I was told that $5 of the missing amount had been withheld as VAT (Value Added Tax) and that this portion would not be refunded. I later received an email in my Gmail account repeating that the $5 deduction was for VAT.
Before this transaction, I was never informed that any taxes or other deductions would be withheld from the payment. I did not receive a notice explaining that VAT would be applied or that the amount deposited into my account would be lower than the amount processed. As a result, there was an unexpected difference between the payment amount and the funds I actually received, and I do not believe the explanation provided was sufficiently clear or transparent.
I request that Hypic refund the $5 that I believe was deducted without my knowledge or informed consent. I also ask the company to provide a clear and detailed explanation of how this deduction was calculated and to improve its payment transparency so that users are fully informed of any taxes or fees before a transaction is completed.
