I live in California, USA, and recently discovered that Hint app has been taking unauthorized payments from my debit card. On April 1, 2026, while checking my transaction history, I noticed a charge and contacted my bank, Direct Express. They informed me that I had been charged by Hint app since October 2025. These payments were taken from my debit card ending in ****7864, and the total amount charged is approximately $159.99, even though I have never used Hint or knowingly subscribed to any of its services. After learning this, I tried to reach Hint customer service. However, when I clicked on the customer service telephone number, no phone number appeared. I tried several times but was not able to contact anyone, which made it impossible for me to clarify or resolve the issue directly with the company. Since I have never used Hint app or authorized any subscription, I consider these charges to be completely unauthorized. I request that Hint immediately review this situation, cancel any account or subscription that may have been created in my name or with my card, and provide a full refund of the total amount charged, which is approximately $159.99, as soon as possible.
I previously submitted a complaint to Hint on April 4, 2026 regarding unauthorized charges made to my bank card ending with 7864. In that complaint, I mistakenly stated that the total refund I am requesting is $59.95, but the correct total amount that has been taken from my account without my authorization is $159.95.
According to my bank, these unauthorized charges have been made every month from October 2025 through April 2, 2026. I did not request, sign up for, or knowingly use any service or subscription from the Hint app, so I do not know which specific service these charges were supposedly for.
I am requesting a full refund of all unauthorized charges totaling $159.95 and the immediate cancellation of any subscription, service, or automatic payment that has been started in my name or linked to my card without my explicit consent. I also request that the incorrect refund amount in my previous complaint be updated to reflect the correct total of $159.95.
