Havaist Driver Tried to Deprive Me of My Luggage
On Friday, August 15th, I took the 7:15 am Havaist bus from the Istanbul airport to Kadıkoy with the intention of getting off at Yeni Sahra. I informed the driver of my final destination, he confirmed, took my two suitcases, and I got on the bus. At Yeni Sahra, when I gave the luggage tickets back, he threw them in the pile without giving me my luggage, and then kept insisting my luggage was not there. He was very rude and kept shouting, and wanted to leave me there without my luggage. After I insisted and refused to get off the bus, he made me go with him to Kadıkoy. There, once everyone had taken their luggage, my luggage was still not in the luggage compartment (empty at this point). When I would not give up and kept asking for my two suitcases and started to gather a crowd, he finally opened a door next to the luggage compartment where only my two suitcases were shoved in. It is my strong belief that he saw a solo female traveler who did not speak the language and wanted to take advantage of this act by stealing my suitcases. It is unacceptable that he would put my suitcases elsewhere when the luggage compartment had plenty of empty space. It is also unacceptable that he would make me go to a different stop than what I intended to go to. This is not safe. His license plate was "34 ETG 050" I did not get his name but I would like to file an official compaint.
