H&M Shows In-Stock Items Online But Stores Claim They’re Reserved or Unavailable

I was looking for a specific H&M item that wasn’t available for online purchase, so I checked the store availability through the H&M app. It showed that the item in my size was in stock at the Ankamall store in Ankara. I made the trip there, only to be told by store staff that the product wasn’t actually available, and the only one in the store was on a mannequin.
Still determined to find it, I went to another branch—Armada AVM in Ankara—where the app again showed that both S and XL sizes were in stock. But when I asked the staff, they said the items were already reserved for other customers.
How is this acceptable? Why does the app show availability if the items are not actually purchasable? And what kind of store policy allows reserving stock without notifying other potential buyers? This is not only misleading, it’s also a complete failure in inventory and customer service management.
