Our flight to Marseille was canceled due to a wildfire that occurred in Marseille. Because of this force-majeure situation, we wanted to cancel the boat tour we had purchased through GetYourGuide, but the cancellation was not accepted.
Other companies such as Airbnb and FlixBus approved cancellations because the situation was caused by the wildfire, but GetYourGuide did not. We were told that a refund would only be possible if the ticket could be resold. Even the airline canceled the flight, yet this platform refused to process the cancellation.
Events like earthquakes, floods, and wildfires are typically accepted as valid force-majeure reasons by most companies, with cancellations processed without question. For this reason, the attitude and handling of this situation by GetYourGuide was extremely disappointing and disturbing.
