My experience at the Four Seasons Sultanahmet Café was deeply disappointing and disrespectful. Although the café is open to everyone, it’s clear non-hotel guests are treated as second-class visitors. When my friend and I arrived for coffee, a staff member coldly informed us that certain seating areas were reserved exclusively for hotel guests. Fine, we thought—we’ll take a quick photo and move inside. But then she added, “Only two photos, and don’t go near the windows; our guests might feel uncomfortable.” This ruined our mood.
Once seated, we ordered lattes and waited. Meanwhile, a hotel guest, an Arab man, sat close by, taking over the shared space with an arrogant attitude, making us extremely uncomfortable. When we asked the staff to address this behavior, they refused, saying, “They’re hotel guests; if you’re uncomfortable, you can leave.”
Why open the café to the public if non-guests are treated so poorly? This is unacceptable, and I’ll never return to this establishment. Four Seasons Sultanahmet, you should be ashamed of such treatment. Respect all your customers equally or stop pretending to welcome everyone.
