FedEx Charged Excessive Fees for My Warranty Replacement
I was sent the left earpiece of my SIMGOT EM6L earphones free of charge under the product warranty from overseas. Since I wanted to receive it quickly, I paid approximately $32 for expedited shipping. After the shipment arrived in Turkey through FedEx, I was provided with a detailed list of additional customs-related charges and was told that I would have to pay between approximately $322 and $430 in extra fees before the package could be released. These charges reportedly included customs brokerage services, customs clearance fees, registration services, import taxes, warehouse storage, and other processing costs.
Considering that the replacement product itself was provided free of charge under warranty, I find it unreasonable that I was asked to pay hundreds of dollars in additional fees after already paying for expedited shipping. I could not accept these unexpected charges, so I declined the fees and was forced to request that the package be returned to the sender. As a result, I lost the $32 I paid for expedited shipping and still never received my warranty replacement.
I respectfully request that FedEx either deliver my warranty replacement without imposing these excessive and unreasonable additional charges or, if the shipment cannot be delivered to me, refund the $32 I paid for expedited shipping. I believe customers receiving warranty replacements should not be required to pay disproportionate customs-related fees simply to receive a product that was sent at no cost under the manufacturer's warranty.
