When my M*** reservation was canceled without my request**, I contacted Titanic Hotel, but they told me there was nothing they could do. After that, I contacted Hotels.com, and they helped me make a new reservation at Titanic Belek for $1,004 (the current price was about $1,455, and they refunded about $461 to match the price difference).
The next day, a representative from Titanic, Ms. G*** called me** and said that I had paid too much and that I should cancel that reservation. She told me that they did not want me to be disadvantaged and that they could make the same reservation for the same price directly through them. I told her that I had not overpaid, but she insisted and said I should still cancel and book through them.
Because I was very busy that day, I could not complete the process immediately. I called again later, and in total I was contacted three times about this issue. Eventually, I canceled the reservation as suggested.
However, after doing so, I ended up paying $1,164, which is more than what I originally paid.
Because of this situation, I have several serious concerns:
Why was I repeatedly contacted and pressured to cancel my existing reservation?
Why was the new booking processed through Expedia instead of the hotel directly?
Why was I not clearly informed that the payment would be calculated based on the exchange rate and converted to euros?
Why was I told that they “didn’t want me to be disadvantaged” and that the conditions would remain the same, yet I ended up paying significantly more?
I believe I was misled and financially disadvantaged because of the hotel’s guidance, and I request that this situation be reviewed and that my financial loss be corrected.
