I Face Denied Refund from Etihad Airways via Obilet Despite Medical Emergency

September 16, 2025 12:07 PM72

Through Obilet, I purchased tickets with Etihad Airways for my trip from Istanbul–Abu Dhabi–Bali on September 9, 2025, and return from Bali–Abu Dhabi–Istanbul on September 24, 2025. The total cost of these tickets was ₺58,000 (PNR: BMKF0Z).

Unfortunately, due to a medical emergency caused by an accident, I was unable to travel. I submitted all relevant doctor’s reports and medical documents along with my request for cancellation and a refund. However, my claim was rejected a week ago. I resubmitted my application last Saturday, but during my call with Obilet customer service, I was informed that despite the force majeure circumstances and complete medical documentation, no flexibility or refund would be offered.

Although I did not purchase additional insurance or extra services, I believe that a serious health issue supported by medical reports should qualify for an exception. Airlines and agencies must show understanding in such cases rather than strictly refusing refunds.

I am requesting the full refund of my ₺58,000 ticket due to the medical emergency and urge Etihad Airways and Obilet to handle such situations with compassion and fairness. Passengers should not be left financially burdened when health emergencies prevent them from flying.
