Warranty Complaint Regarding Case Peeling – Casio MTP-1375D-1AVDF

On 15.07.2024, I purchased a Casio MTP-1375D-1AVDF wristwatch from Çanakkale Haskur Saatçilik. Although it has only been about one and a half years since the purchase, and the product is still under the 2-year warranty, peeling started on the side part of the watch case. I contacted Ersa Saat, which provides the warranty service for Casio, and requested support under warranty. They replied that the case of this model is not steel but ion-plated, that such situations may occur with ion plating, and that this is not considered a warranty issue. For changing the case, they quoted a fee of approximately 1,800 TL. We bought this watch for 3,000 TL, and currently the price on your site is 5,528 TL. When the product was sold to us, no one informed us that “the case may peel off before the 2-year warranty period ends.” While every kind of marketing is done at the time of sale, and payment is taken without any problem, there is no warning about such a risk. You trust the brand name, pay a significant amount of money, but before two years are up, you are faced with a disappointing result. If we had known that such a problem could occur, we would have preferred another brand and kept our money. I find it unacceptable that a watch sold at this price range has its case peeling in such a short time and that the responsibility is placed on the customer, and that when repair is requested, a fee close to the price of a new watch is demanded. I kindly request that the watch case be replaced free of charge under warranty and that my grievance be resolved.
Dear Çağdaş D., As stated in the warranty documents, components of watches such as the battery, case, strap, and crystal can become deformed due to use and are therefore excluded from warranty coverage. Exposing your watch to external factors beyond its specifications is significant for its service life. You can obtain support from our service for a paid part replacement. Sincerely
The case of the watch I bought from Casio Turkey started to peel within 1.5 years. The warranty service provider, Ersa Saat, stated that this issue is not covered under warranty and demanded a fee of 1,800 TL. My request for a free repair has still not been addressed, and the company is not taking responsibility, which has completely eroded my trust in the firm.
