Unable to Cancel Budget Car Rental Despite Prepaid Booking and Refund Policy
I prepaid for a car rental through the Budget.com website in June 2024 for my trip to Lesbos. Unfortunately, a week before the trip, our plans were canceled. Even though I had the right to cancel without a penalty up to 24 hours before the rental, I couldn’t cancel the booking or get a refund. Budget Turkey refused to assist, telling me to contact the channel through which I booked. Should I travel to Lesbos just to resolve this? I even called the Budget office in Lesbos, and they confirmed I should be able to cancel or get a refund. However, the website only allows changes to the booking, not cancellations. I tried emailing through the feedback section, but I don’t even know if it went through. If you're planning to rent a car for an international trip with Budget, don't expect support in Turkey. This is supposed to be an international company—where is the customer service?
