I rented a car from Budget in Podgorica, Montenegro under contract number 137795895, and I’m extremely disappointed with how the situation was handled. Despite paying for additional insurance coverage, Budget refused to return my €400 deposit over a completely minor issue.
The vehicle I was given had over 85,000 km on it and was clearly worn. During my rental, two hubcaps fell off, and I reported this immediately and honestly. There was no accident, no damage to the car’s body—just missing hubcaps. Yet, I was told the car was “repaired” and that the entire deposit would be withheld.
This feels like a setup. It’s hard not to suspect that these charges were premeditated or that local Budget operations are exploiting tourists through questionable practices. For a global brand like Budget to allow this kind of treatment under their name is shocking.
Budget, I demand a full refund of my €400 deposit and an explanation for how this falls within your supposed insurance policy. Holding a customer's money over such a small and cosmetic issue is unacceptable. This experience has severely damaged my trust in your brand.
